Establishment

The Rutger Hauer Filmfactory (RHFF) is a foundation based in the Netherlands that was established in 2006 through a collaboration involving INHOLLAND University Rotterdam, the Rotterdam Media Fund (RMF) and Rutger Hauer. The RHFF has the goal to organize masterclasses, workshops and courses for filmmakers, students in the film and audiovisual sector and talented school children. The first two years the Filmfactory has been supported by the Rotterdam Development Corporation (OBR). The Amsterdam based Binger Filmlab is the program advisory partner for the Filmfactory.

For years Rutger Hauer has wanted to organize masterclasses and share his knowledge of film with film professionals and students from all over the world. 'What I want is to rediscover my profession', Hauer said. 'And filmmakers are the only ones who can communicate that with all their heart and soul.'

Since 2007 we realized three successful ten-day Rutger Hauer masterclasses in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In 2010 we developed different versions of the masterclass along side the ten-day training program and we aim to organize various Rutger Hauer masterclasses on different locations in the world. That can either be a nine-day, five-day or a three-day version, depending on the funding, wishes and requirements of each country and/or partner.

The Rutger Hauer Filmfactory foundation is registered at the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) in Rotterdam. The statutes of the foundation can be requested via the form on our contact page.
