Coach Script Confirmed

A news item, an unexpected event on the streets or a weird dream can be the birth of a new film. It all starts in the head of the scriptwriter. It can take years before a script is finished. Years of puzzling to create a well constructed plot containing beautiful events and sharp dialogues. The participants of the Filmfactory have only a few days to make their puzzle. Luckily they get a little help. One of their script coaches is Franz Rodenkirchen.

FRANZ RODENKIRCHEN 

During and after his studies in Media Consulting and German literature, Franz co-wrote four feature-films (1987-1994) with director Jörg Buttgereit and also helped in bringing them to the screen. In 1995, after a period as a free-lance writer on film-related topics, Franz moved to Helsinki, where he continued writing articles, a radio play for German broadcaster WDR, and lectured at Helsinki University.

In 1999 Franz moved back to Berlin and participated in an extensive training seminar for script consultants, with tutors Linda Seger, Jurgen Wolff, Ken Dancyger and Oliver Schütte. Franz joined the Berlin-based development agency Script House in 2000 and became a partner in 2001.

Currently, Franz heads the dramaturgy department at script development agency Script House in Berlin. He also is one of three script editors of the CineLink co-production market at the Sarajevo Film Festival, tutoring the writers of the selected projects. He also tutors students at the Script Academy of the DFFB (Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin). In 2005 he became one of the tutors for the international scriptwriting programme Script&Pitch. Starting autumn 2006, he joined the visiting staff of the BINGER Filmlab, Amsterdam as one of their tutors in the scriptwriting program. By now Franz has consulted more than 100 projects, mostly for the cinema.
